Festa de São João do Porto — What to Expect in 2026

Every June 23rd and 24th, Porto transforms into one of Europe's most joyful festivals. The São João festival is the city's signature celebration — a night of concert stages along the Douro river, street parties that last until sunrise, and the famous plastic hammers that every visitor inevitably ends up holding.

The festival centre is along the riverfront from Ribeira to Afurada, with stages at Jardim da Cordoaria, Passeio dasgio, and the Ponte de Dom Luís I lower deck. Free concerts run all evening, headlined this year by Portuguese pop acts.
