Lisbon's event calendar doesn't slow down. From New Year's fireworks at Praça do Comércio to fado marathons in December, every month delivers something worth traveling for.
January–February
New Year's at Praça do Comércio, peak fado season in Alfama, Carnival parades (Torres Vedras is Portugal's most authentic, 45 min north). January is Lisbon's cheapest month for accommodation. Museum exhibitions launch at Gulbenkian and MAAT.
March–April

EDP Lisbon Half Marathon crosses the Ponte 25 de Abril. BTL tourism fair brings wine and food pavilions. Spring music festivals start appearing at Music Box and Lux. Open-air markets return to Lx Factory and Jardim da Estrela. Peixe em Lisboa (fish festival) in April.
May–June
Lisbon Book Fair in Parque Eduardo VII. Santo António (June 12–13) — Lisbon's biggest street party, free and citywide. NOS Alive and Rock in Rio Lisboa bring global headliners. Noite dos Museus offers free late-night museum access. Beach weather starts.
July–August
Peak festival and beach season. Summer free concerts at Praça do Comércio. Neighborhood festivals across every district. Wine tours in the surrounding regions. Alfama outdoor fado sessions. The city doesn't sleep.
September–December
Autumn brings DocLisboa (documentary film festival), jazz festivals, and wine harvest events. Christmas markets in December. New Year's Eve fireworks close the year.
